The documents related to Virtual RAID on CPU (VROC) reveal the existence of Fishhawk Falls Refresh, which was created in May of this year and recently updated.

While details about the new CPU series, rumored to be called Xeon 2500 and Xeon 3500, are scarce, Chinese media ECSM has mentioned that they are expected to launch in conjunction with updates for Raptor Lake and Meteor Lake in 2024. Initially, it was believed that the W3500/2500 series would be compatible with existing W790 motherboards. However, new information suggests that board partners will introduce updated designs specifically tailored for the new series, similar to the Z790 refresh.

The Sapphire Rapids W-Series CPUs, part of Intel’s HEDT platform, offer a range of core counts from 6 to 56 cores and TDPs from 110W to 350W. While Intel’s HEDT lineup has lost some appeal among enthusiasts due to the introduction of 24-core consumer SKUs that are better suited for gaming, it still caters to workstations that require more memory channels, PCIe lanes, and cores compared to mainstream client CPUs. However, the increased performance comes at a significant price, with the top-tier SKU (W9-3495X) priced at up to $5,889 USD. Intel does offer X-SKUs with overclocking support for enthusiasts.
