Getac, a leading provider of rugged computing solutions, has launched its latest offering in the form of the next generation S410 semi-rugged laptop. This new device combines powerful processing and graphics performance with a sustainable design, all while maintaining the rugged reliability that Getac is known for.
One of the standout features of the next generation S410 is its processing power. It is the first Getac device to feature an Intel Core 13th generation i5/i7 processor, which delivers exceptional computing performance and responsiveness. The integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics ensure a visually immersive experience, while an optional dedicated GPS chip provides improved location accuracy compared to previous models. In terms of connectivity, the S410 comes equipped with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 as standard, with the option for 4G LTE and/or 5G Sub-6 connectivity, ensuring users stay connected even in remote locations.
What sets the next generation S410 apart is its versatility. Getac understands that different users have different needs, which is why the S410 can be fully configured to match various user scenarios. Whether it’s exceptional battery life with up to three hot swappable batteries, additional storage options, or a range of compatible accessories, the S410 can be tailored to meet individual requirements.
In addition to its impressive performance and configurability, the next generation S410 boasts a new sustainable design. Over 24 percent of the chassis is made from post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials, making it Getac’s most eco-friendly device to date. This design approach not only reduces carbon emissions and e-waste during manufacturing but also promotes a more environmentally responsible future.
Despite its eco-friendly design, the next generation S410 does not compromise on rugged reliability. It is both MIL-STD-810H certified and IP53 certified, ensuring it can withstand challenging work environments. With vibration and drop resistance up to three feet (0.9 m), the S410 is built to withstand accidental damage in busy and demanding settings.
The S410 also excels in terms of display and security. Its 14″ screen with Getac sunlight-readable technology offers excellent visibility in both internal and external environments, with a brightness of 1,000 nits. The multi-touch modes support various use cases, enabling quick and efficient task completion. Enhanced security features, such as TPM2.0 and Intel vPro technology, user replaceable PCIe NVMe SSD storage, and multi-factor authentication options, ensure sensitive user data remains protected.
“The next generation S410 is a powerful and versatile device that excels in a wide range of industrial scenarios and enterprise work environments,” said James Hwang, President of Getac Technology Corporation. “Not only does it deliver outstanding processing performance, but its eco-friendly design reflects Getac’s commitment to a better world where all can prosper.”
The next generation S410 will be available for order in December 2023. With its powerful performance, sustainable design, and rugged reliability, it is set to be a valuable tool for professionals in various industries.

Technology Explained
NVMe: Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) is a newly developed technology that has been gaining traction in the computer industry. This technology is a standard interface which allows for high-speed storage and retrieval of data from solid state drives (SSDs). NVMe is designed to increase the speed of data transfers in storage systems by enabling a direct connection to PCI Express (PCIe) bus, resulting in significantly faster access times compared to traditional interface protocols such SSDs. NVMe is particularly useful for applications that require lightning-fast access to large amounts of high-value data. NVMe-based SSDs are being widely adopted in the computer industry and are being employed to power data centers, high-end workstations, and gaming machines to support lightning-fast data processing and retrieval, which unlocks possibilities for machine learning, real-time analytics, edge computing, and other cutting-edge applications. NVMe is proving to be an invaluable tool in the field of computing, offering immense

PCIe: PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express) is a high-speed serial computer expansion bus standard for connecting components such as graphics cards, sound cards, and network cards to a motherboard. It is the most widely used interface in the computer industry today, and is used in both desktop and laptop computers. PCIe is capable of providing up to 16 times the bandwidth of the older PCI standard, allowing for faster data transfer speeds and improved performance. It is also used in a variety of other applications, such as storage, networking, and communications. PCIe is an essential component of modern computing, and its applications are only expected to grow in the future.

SSD: A Solid State Drive (SSD) is a modern data storage device that employs flash memory technology to store data electronically. Unlike traditional hard disk drives (HDDs), SSDs have no moving parts, resulting in significantly faster read and write speeds. This leads to quicker boot times, faster application loading, and smoother overall system performance. SSDs are known for their durability, shock resistance, and energy efficiency, making them ideal for laptops, ultrabooks, and other portable devices. They come in various form factors, including 2.5-inch, M.2, and PCIe cards, and are favored for their reliability, quiet operation, and reduced heat generation

Wi-Fi 6E: WiFi 6E is the latest iteration of the WiFi standard, offering faster speeds and improved performance. It is designed to take advantage of the newly available 6GHz frequency band, which is much less congested than the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. This means that WiFi 6E can provide faster speeds and more reliable connections, even in crowded areas. It is also more secure, as it uses the latest encryption standards. In the computer industry, WiFi 6E can be used to provide faster and more reliable connections for laptops, tablets, and other devices. It can also be used to provide better coverage in large buildings, such as offices and universities. Additionally, it can be used to provide better connections for streaming services, such as Netflix and Hulu, as well as for gaming.
