ASUS RTX 4090 EVA: A Premium Graphics Card with a Premium Price
Newegg has recently listed the special edition ASUS RTX 4090 ROG STRIX graphics card, and it comes with a hefty price tag. While the pricing for the Geforce RTX 4090 GPUs has remained relatively stable since their release late last year, the ROG STRIX models have always been among the most expensive gaming cards on the market. However, ASUS has decided to introduce even more variants of these GPUs, with higher price tags than ever before.
Gone are the days of the originally suggested retail price (MSRP) of $1,599 for the RTX 4090. The least expensive model currently available on Newegg is priced at $1,999, and that’s for the standard black design. ASUS has also launched a white edition, which comes at a slightly higher cost, currently $100 more expensive than the black variant.
The latest addition to the lineup is the EVA-02, a graphics card inspired by the popular Japanese anime and manga series “Neon Genesis Evangelion.” This second generation of ASUS EVA series products departs from the purple design of the EVA-01 and introduces a new red color scheme that extends to motherboards, chassis, and peripherals. The ROG STRIX design for this card has been adapted to this striking red theme.
While Newegg is one of the first retailers in the US to list this card for sale, it’s important to note that it is not yet available and is expected to ship around October 26. However, the extended wait for shipping is not the only concern; the price tag is also a major issue. The card is retailing for $2,299, which is $300 higher than the original model’s price.
In terms of specifications, this card retains the same 35.8-inch length and utilizes a triple-fan cooling solution that occupies 3.5 slots in your system. It relies on a single 16-pin power connector and boasts an RTX 4090 SKU with 16,384 CUDA cores. Additionally, the card features 24GB of GDDR6X memory and comes factory-overclocked, offering speeds of up to 2640 MHz.
The ASUS RTX 4090 ROG STRIX EVA comes bundled with Evangelion-themed accessories. Users will find 4x 8pin to 16pin power adapters and a small screwdriver that may also act as a VGA support.
While the ASUS RTX 4090 EVA is undoubtedly a premium graphics card with impressive specifications, its high price point may deter many potential buyers. However, for die-hard fans of “Neon Genesis Evangelion” or those seeking the absolute best performance, this card may be worth considering.
