Samsung is stirring up the gaming monitor market with its latest offering, the curved 57-inch Odyssey Neo G9. This impressive display aims to set a new standard for ultrawide gaming monitors. With a resolution of 7,680 x 2,160 pixels and a unique VA LCD panel featuring a 1000R curvature, the Neo G9 is as wide as two typical 32-inch 4K displays.
The Odyssey Neo G9 was first launched at CES 2023 and boasts a variable Refresh Rate of up to 240 Hz with AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro technology. It also features a rapid 1 ms GtG Response Time, ensuring smooth and responsive gameplay.
Samsung has incorporated its Quantum Mini LED lighting technology into the Neo G9 to enhance color reproduction and contrasts. By utilizing Mini LED-based backlighting and quantum dots, the display achieves a wider gamut of colors, covering 95% of the DCI color space. The monitor is also DisplayHDR 1000 compliant, offering a peak luminance of 1000 nits in HDR mode.
To fully experience the Neo G9’s impressive resolution and refresh rate, it must be connected to a host device using either DisplayPort 2.1 with UHBR 13.5 or HDMI 2.1 with in FRL 12 mode. The monitor also includes a USB hub for added convenience.
Not only does the Neo G9 offer exceptional performance, but it also supports features like picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture, allowing users to connect multiple PCs simultaneously. Another interesting feature is Auto Source Switch+, which enables seamless connection to new devices without the hassle of manually switching input sources.
For those who prefer a more traditional size, Samsung also offers the curved 4K 55-inch Odyssey Ark (G97NC) with a maximum refresh rate of 165 Hz and AMD’s FreeSync Premium Pro certification.
Both the Odyssey Neo G9 57-inch and Odyssey Ark 55-inch displays are now available for pre-order globally. While pre-orders have opened in various regions, including the UK and Australia, Samsung has yet to list the monitors on its US website.
