. EVGA's departure from the GPU market left many enthusiasts wondering, but their legacy lives on through the prototype GeForce RTX 4090 GPU and GTX 1080 Ti Kingpin model, as well as the sole existing EVT revision of the RTX 3090 Ti, all of which were gifted to JayzTwoCents by Kingpin.
- EVGA invited two important tech reviewers to their headquarters.
- JayzTwoCents received a prototype PCB for one of the unreleased GeForce GTX 1080 cards.
- JayzTwoCents also received the sole existing EVT revision of the RTX 3090 Ti.
In a surprising move, EVGA officially announced its departure from the GPU market less than a year ago. This decision sent shockwaves through the industry, leaving many enthusiasts wondering about the future of EVGA’s GPU products. However, despite EVGA’s exit, other companies have stepped in to fill the void.
Prior to their departure, EVGA had been working on a prototype of the Geforce RTX 4090 GPU. Unfortunately, this model never made it to the retail market. To shed light on their decision, EVGA invited two important tech reviewers, GamersNexus and JayzTwoCents, to their headquarters. These reviewers had longstanding partnerships with EVGA and were closely associated with EVGA’s overclocker, Vince “Kingpin” Lucido.
Kingpin, known for his exceptional work on the Kingpin GPU series, sent JayzTwoCents a prototype PCB for one of the unreleased GeForce GTX 1080 cards. It’s important to note that EVGA did eventually release the GTX 1080 Ti Kingpin model. However, the PCB sample received by JayzTwoCents was an Engineering Validation Test (EVT) model, lacking any components as the design was not yet finalized. This may be attributed to the swift release of the GTX 1080 Ti, prompting Kingpin to shift focus towards more capable GPUs.
In addition to the unreleased GTX 1080 PCB, JayzTwoCents also received the sole existing EVT revision of the RTX 3090 Ti. This GPU eventually made it to the market and was the last project Kingpin had been working on.
JayzTwoCents now possesses a remarkable collection of EVGA GPUs, which will undoubtedly find a special place among his cherished items. However, this marks the end of an era for EVGA as the company shifts its focus towards other PC components.
