ASRock introduces revamped Challenger and Phantom Gaming designs for Radeon RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT GPUs

ASRock, a leading manufacturer in the tech industry, has recently launched three new custom models in anticipation of AMD’s upcoming release. These models, named Phantom Gaming (PG), Steel Legend (SL), and Challenger, are all centered around the Navi 32 GPU.

While specific details and images of these cards have not yet been officially listed on ASRock’s website, a closer look suggests that the Challenger series may feature a new cooler design with two larger fans compared to the PG and SL models. Despite this difference, the overall size of the cards remains consistent.

It is worth noting that the RX 7700 XT GPU, which is part of the Challenger series, has a power consumption rating of 245W. As these cards are factory-overclocked, there is likely still room for further thermal optimization.

The RX 7700/7800 XT Steel Legend model bears a striking resemblance to the RX 7600. However, it benefits from a full PCIe Gen4 x16 slot, unlike the Navi 33-powered models that use an x8 slot.

In terms of specifications, the RX 7800 XT features the Navi 32 GPU with 60 Compute Units (3840 Stream Processors) and 16GB of GDDR6 memory operating across a 256-bit memory bus. The RX 7700 XT, on the other hand, has slightly fewer cores at 3540 and comes with 12GB of GDDR6 memory over a 192-bit memory bus.

ASRock has not confirmed whether these cards will be available for AMD’s official launch of the RX 7800/7700 XT cards on September 6th. However, those interested in custom models at a more budget-friendly price point should keep an eye out for the Challenger and Steel Legend options.
