AMD has finally announced the much-anticipated update for FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR3), their upscaling technology. This new version, known as FSR3, brings an exciting feature called “Fluid Motion Frames,” which can be likened to AMD’s answer to DLSS3 Frame Generation. Although the technology was initially launched earlier this year, AMD has taken longer than expected to provide further details.
Two games have been confirmed as the first to support FSR3: “Forspoken” and “Immortals of Aveum.” Unfortunately, “Forspoken” from Square Enix didn’t quite meet expectations upon its release in January. However, “Immortals” is a recently launched game that stands out as the first to utilize Unreal Engine 5.1.
To demonstrate the capabilities of FSR3, AMD showcased “Forspoken” running at a 4K Ultra High RT preset. With the FSR3 Performance preset enabled, the game’s frame rate skyrocketed from 36 to an impressive 122 FPS, representing a nearly 3.4x increase. AMD has yet to provide complete details regarding FSR quality tiers and support for Radeon and other GPU models.
