AMD Set to Launch New Desktop GPUs at Gamescom
AMD has been dropping hints about the upcoming launch of the Radeon RX 7800/7700 at Gamescom. While the initial announcement for the event suggested a possible product launch, it did not provide explicit details about AMD’s intended announcement.
Speculation has been growing in recent weeks about updates to the Radeon RX 7000 series, fueled in part by PowerColor’s leak of the Radeon RX 7800 XT GPU. Although AMD has neither confirmed nor denied this leak, it is expected that the company will provide updates on the Navi 32-based RDNA3 GPUs this week. The RX 7800 XT and RX 7700 XT models are reportedly set to be released on August 25th.
During Gamescom, attendees will have the opportunity to see a teaser made of cardboard for the upcoming GPU launch. This teaser suggests that more information will be revealed on August 26th, one day after the initial announcement. It is worth noting that Gamescom officially began yesterday and will run until August 27th, with various companies in attendance, including AMD board partners like ASUS.
The rumored specifications for the RX 7800 XT include a full Navi 32 GPU with 60 Compute Units, paired with 16GB of GDDR6 memory and a 256-bit memory bus. This configuration is similar to that of the RX 7900 GRE. Details about the RX 7700 XT remain unconfirmed, but leaks suggest that it will maintain the current RX 6700 XT’s 12GB 192-bit memory configuration.
AMD’s “Gaming Festival” is scheduled for this Friday, August 25th, starting at 12:00 local German time. The “Highlight Show,” featuring AMD GPU Chief Scott Herkelman, will take place at 17:00 hours.
